1930s inspired silk and tulle vintage wedding dress

As much as I adore creating cute 50s and 60s inspired wedding dresses I also really love the classic and romantic styles of the 1930s.  It was so lovely to work with Sally recently who had her heart sent on a soft floaty gown with a 1930s feel. Sally was wanting a floor length gown that had a little bit of movement but not too much fabric at the hem and she really loved the look of lightly gathered tulle… Read more »

Aahhhh… I can finally put up my feet and relax… (well momentarily before I get back into the world of custom bridal gowns!).  We had an absolutely awesome weekend at A Very Vintage Wedding Fair which was a huge success and hopefully we see more of them! It was so inspiring to meet with other vendors who share my passion for vintage / handmade / eclectic weddings – I have made so many fantastic industry friends who I plan to… Read more »

It sure is madness here at vintage wedding headquarters!!  Amongst the many custom gowns that I’m currently working on I’m desperately trying to find time to create a few more designs for my ready to wear collection which will all be on display at A Very Vintage Wedding Fair in March. Since I barely have time to think, I haven’t had the time to properly photograph my two latest designs but I have included some happy snaps from my work… Read more »

I have just received a small order of really cute (and really affordable!!) beaded motifs in very art deco styles.  I plan to find some time to hand sew these onto wide ribbons to be worn as a 1920s style headband for brides and bridesmaids…. fingers crossed I can find the time so that I will have them on display at the upcoming A Very Vintage Wedding Fair.  In keeping with this gorgeous 1920s styling I thought I would put… Read more »

Recently I received these lovely images from a bride whose bridal gown and bridesmaid dress I made a little while back (pre baby days!).  Shona chose a lovely short wedding dress that had a full organza overlay with cute little capped sleeves.  Underneath the organza was a layer of dupion silk which was made as a strapless bodice underlay and the skirt had lovely box pleats to give the perfect amount of fullness without being too bulky.  Then to add… Read more »

Recently I posted some happy snaps of one of my Toowoomba brides 1950s inspired dresses here.  Kristen had fallen in love with Audrey Hepburns wedding dress from the movie Funny Face, so we came up with a dress and veil that was very much inspired by this dress. Kristen was kind enough to take the time to send in some of the most spectacular pictures from her wedding day in some amazing Toowoomba locations along with the story of her… Read more »

Some of you may recall a few weeks ago I shared one sneak peek picture of Rebekahs gorgeous lace and silk satin gown.  Well after eagerly waiting I have received some absolutely stunning pictures of Rebekah in her dream gown.   Rebekahs gown is sweetheart neckline bodice with a lovely lace overlay and a dropped waist.  The lace edging on the top and bottom of the bodice was hand cut and hand sewn in place.   Her lovely floaty skirt… Read more »
