Today I am sharing the gorgeous story and pictures of Shiona and Chris’s vintage inspired wedding.  Unfortunately I wasn’t available to create Shionas gown but we kept in touch throughout her wedding planning and she has kindly shared her day for everyone to have a little inspiration. Shiona and Chris’s Story: “Chris and I have been together for nearly 6 years when we married. We met during our university years and become solid friends. Over time, we realised how we… Read more »

Phew – what a week so far!!  With the recent announcement of A Very Vintage Wedding Fair coming up in only 2 months I am madly getting things ready for a fabulous stand as well as creating some samples for brand new ready to wear designs that you can all come and check out on the 24th & 25th March. I finally found a spare moment this morning to share a little something on my blog – this gorgeous wedding… Read more »

After a little inspiration from Snippet & Ink in my in-box this morning I thought I would share some inspiring pictures of unique wedding backdrops today. Now we have all seen the standard sheer white fabric hanging generally behind the bridal table and often with the obligatory fairy lights…. now each to their own but in my personal opinion – yawn!…  So for couples who want to look outside the box and go for something a little more unique and… Read more »

Just in are some pictures from my gorgeous bride Amanda’s wedding in Toowoomba about a month ago.  Like so many of my Toowoomba brides, Amanda was good enough to come down every week for fittings for several weeks for her beautiful wedding dress. Amanda had fallen in love with one of Clarissa Grace’s wedding dresses but unfortunately that business was closing down so Amanda and I worked together to come up with the perfect gown for her, very much inspired… Read more »

I have a secret love-hate relationship with beaded flowers.  I absolutely love the look of them and have tried (albiet momentarily) to create some myself but have just ended up with beads all over the floor and a lot of swearing at the pieces of wire that were starting to look nothing like the gorgeous inspiration piece! For all of you who are just like me – love the look of beaded flowers and bows but don’t have the time… Read more »

Some of you may recall a few weeks ago I shared one sneak peek picture of Rebekahs gorgeous lace and silk satin gown.  Well after eagerly waiting I have received some absolutely stunning pictures of Rebekah in her dream gown.   Rebekahs gown is sweetheart neckline bodice with a lovely lace overlay and a dropped waist.  The lace edging on the top and bottom of the bodice was hand cut and hand sewn in place.   Her lovely floaty skirt… Read more »

I was fortunate enough to get to create my unique fabric flower bouquets and buttonholes for Jessica last year for her vintage inspired wedding.  It’s always wonderful seeing pictures from my bouquet brides as I rarely have the opportunity to meet with them when I am working with them.  To finally see a face to the emails and such a gorgeous face is just lovely! Jessica describes her wedding as “handmade budget” but it most certainly was vintage inspired as… Read more »

Recently there has been a big shift towards fun alternatives to fresh floral bouquets for brides and their bridal party.  Sure there is always something special about having a lovely fresh posy of flowers to hold but they can be quite costly, a lot of flowers are seasonal and you can’t keep it forever. Among other ideas such as button bouquets, brooch bouquets, fabric flower bouquets (like the style that I create via Silver Sixpence), one of the cute alternatives… Read more »

My husband and I just love architechture of the grand old days and have spent much of our holidays in the US doing walking tours admiring charming southern buildings and touring some of the houses that are open to the public.  While on our last trip we said to each other that it is pretty terrible that we haven’t gone to visit any of our own local homes that are open – so about a year ago (pre-baby!) we went… Read more »

This is such a gorgeous idea for wedding decorating – old fashioned looking birdcages displayed in really creative ways. It could also easily become a wedding theme as there are dozens of options for birdcage images in wedding stationery and even some cute cake designs.  Then to top it off the favours could be miniature birdcages or even gorgeous little birds nests with traditional sugar coated almonds! Hung in varying heights and tied with ribbon or twine: Ruffled Blog Ruffled… Read more »
