I recently had the lovely pleasure of receiving some gorgeous pics from one of my recent brides new bundles of joy!!! When I first met Rebecca to discuss her wedding plans we had no idea what was in store, but shortly after our design process she found out the lovely surprise that she was expecting. After a juggle of dates we then worked out that she would be around 19 weeks pregnant on her new wedding date!!!
Fortunately the style of gown that she had fallen in love with works quite well for pregnancies at earlier stages. She was still super keen to have a 50s inspired dress with a fitted bodice, the skirt to start as close to her natural waist as possible (certainly no 60s inspired empire lines that scream maternity dress!) and then a full skirt to accentuate her lovely hourglass figure. I’m sure you will agree it was a perfect design for someone looking for a vintage inspired maternity wedding dress while still looking fabulous!!
Rebecca decided on the Mandy gown with her own personal customisations. Firstly she chose a rich champagne coloured dupion silk, we then modified the front neckline ever so slightly and for the fitted midriff she preferred the look of a gathered overlay that gave the illusion of a vintage inspired cummerbund which was ever so popular in the 50s & 60s. Then a simple full circle tea length skirt with no petticoat to keep it simple.
In addition to the gown Rebecca also found a gorgeous delicate bolero with beaded detail which was a perfect match in style and colour to her dress – a match made in heaven!
Even though the skies opened up and it rained away on her wedding day as you can see she still looked incredible and who could have known she was 19 weeks pregnant!?!?!?! What a wonderful day!
Congratulations Rebecca & enjoy motherhood!!!
A huge thank you to When Elephant Met Zebra for the gorgeous images!!
