I love a bride who opts for a dress that is more their personality and doesnt want to confirm with the traditional concept of a wedding dress. It’s always exciting for me when I meet a bride who is after a short, chic dress for their wedding day!
I recently heard from one of my previous brides who was one of these girl who chose a short wedding dress and just loved getting to see the pictures of her all glammed up.
Nicole loved the idea of a sophisticated sheath dress and originally had considered going for a more traditional floor length skirt over the short dress for the ceremony but in the end went for the short option throughout the entire day, and as you can see it was absolutely perfect for her!
Nicole & Simon were married in Tamborine and their photography was by the very talented Sophie Baker Photography
. I think she did a wonderful job of capturing the couple and their special day.
Nicole’s gown was a custom design created by her and I. It features a strapless bodice with a sweetheart neckline with a gorgeous lace overlay and a knee length straight skirt with a few soft pleats in the front to give a little movement. The entire gown was made from ivory silk duchess satin and had a matching waistband in the same fabric.
A simple cream wool coat is such a perfect addition to a short wedding dress… and they are often so easily available in retail stores coming up to the winter months.
Nicole’s “something blue” were her awesome pair of navy blue shoes…. it certainly is a rare bride of mine who opts for traditional ivory shoes!!!
Her bandeau style birdcage veil was also created by me and she had a piece of her lace fabric handcrafted into a breathtaking hairpiece by one of our preferred milliners, Leila Koster Millinery
