Gorgeous Michiko is one of my Melbourne brides who I thoroughly enjoyed working with over previous months. I was extra fortunate as I met her creative husband Michael as well, during our design consultations and fittings Michael was part of the whole process so that they could share in her custom wedding dress journey together. For both of them all details of their special day were a shared experience, making all of the moments in the lead up to their wedding very special.
As Michiko is a petite bride it was really important that her dress design didn’t overwhelm her figure, and knee length dresses with not so full skirts always work well for ladies just like her. She loved the idea of a simple yet stunning dress that didn’t have busy lace, just a few striking details to make her gown a stand out.
We went for an ivory coloured dupion silk with a high bateau neckline and extended all in one capped sleeves. Her skirt was knee length with a couple of inverted box pleats on the front and back. Then her special details were the fabric covered buttons running up the back of her gown and a simple black ribbon tied around her waist with a brooch detail at the front.
I know I say it over and over again, but often less is more when it comes to a wedding dress and with her perfect little accessory details she just rocked her dress on her wedding day.
Michiko and Michael’s reception took place in the amazing Epocha restaurant and I thought you all might be curious as to a little styling detail that they included for their reception. It was flawless and doesn’t it look like an amazing wedding day to be part of! Just a small but close group of family and friends to celebrate with them – all of their important people. The perfect kind of wedding!!!
