Who doesn’t love the Melbourne Cup?!?!  Personally it’s my favourite day of the year because everyone (well almost everyone) makes that little bit more effort to dress up.

This year I was out with my best friend as usual and decided on the new Silver Sixpence design “Bluebelle” with a matching blue fascinator.  Below is yours truly all frocked up on the right with a massive smile!

Not only is it a fun time to frock up in Hey Sara mini dresses but I’m always completely inspired by fashions throughout the entire Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival and I thought I’d share some of my favourite designs that are worthy of stealing a little inspiration for not only as bridal gown designs but bridesmaid dresses.

Wow… what a fabulous design and I just love textured fabrics.  This as it is would make such a fabulous bridesmaid dress or in an ivory or champagne would be a lovely understated wedding dress.  She can totally go all out with her hair accessory with a simple dress.  (Often for those who are accessory addicts, plain is best from a dress design point of view so it’s not all too busy!)

Again I’m loving the unique texture to the dress fabric.  Not too sure on the hem for all of us true vintage loving ladies but the overall silhouette is lovely and there are even pockets! What a cute hair accessory too!

I totally fell in love with this design when I saw peeks of it on TV while getting ready for the cup.  Black and white are a winning combination and this is fabulous with what appears to be white mesh over black in the full circle tea length skirt.  I’m also loving collars on dresses at the moment so this ticks that box as well!

What a cute bodice on this dress!  Again a darling little collar that I love and such a sweet detail on the front of the bodice.  I think this dress would have been just as amazing with a more plain fabric on the skirt as these ruffled fabrics can at times look a little messy up close.  Can you see that peek of blue and white pattern on the inside lining of the skirt though – love, love, love!!

What a fabulous length and the pleats are fabulous!  I’m not usually a fan of colour blocking but I’m loving this dress.

Off the shoulder dresses I think are about to start making a return to the bridal fashion stakes and again look at the detail on the inside lining of the gown…. fabulous!
