Last week I was up to showing you the bodice of Erin’s lovely lace and chiffon vintage wedding dress. The next step was to add the silk crepe and the silk chiffon overlay skirt. Although the silk crepe has a matte texture to it Erin really wanted the extra layer of softness that comes with a silk chiffon so that she can have that lovely swoosh when she walks around on her wedding day. To break up the bodice and skirt we added a sewn in waist band in the silk crepe and I attached a diamante motif to the centre that Erin sourced.
The lace edging from the fabric was then hand cut and hand stitched around the neckline to give a finish to match the scalloped lace edge sleeves. To complete the gown it has a standard zipper hand picked into the back (I’m never a fan of using invisible zips on gowns with sheer fabrics or lace fabrics as they are temperamental at the best of times!).
